Chemist II - R&D

This job description is for an entry-level Chemist specializing in UV products. 

Key Responsibilities:

• UV Product Support: Provide timely and accurate support for UV product issues, new product development, and analysis. This includes executing formulations and testing.

• Technical Development: Build foundational technical, company, and industry knowledge. Learn product development processes, research, testing, and data production.

• Problem Solving & Project Management: Develop problem-solving and decision-making skills, and learn to manage individual work through planning, execution, analysis, and documentation.

• Quality & Cost Optimization: Conduct timely and accurate product testing, work on cost-saving projects without compromising quality, and evaluate new raw materials with suppliers and purchasing for cost or quality improvement.

• Safety & Maintenance: Adhere to safe operating procedures, understand UV application and testing equipment usage, and be responsible for machine handling and maintenance, including 5S housekeeping.

• Relationship Building & Adaptability: Establish effective working relationships and adapt to organizational changes.

Essential Functions:

• Collect accurate experimental data for reporting and decision-making.

• Design, execute, analyze, and apply results from simple experiments.

• Apply growing technical skills, problem-solving, and basic decision-making abilities.

• Manage personal work, including planning, execution, analysis, documentation, and application of results.

• Understand and improve processes for data generation, testing, and overall results.

• Strictly follow safe operating procedures.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent.

• Preferred: Degree in Polymer/Chemical with knowledge of UV coating chemistry.

Knowledge & Experience:

• Required:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a senior chemist in the wood coating industry.

  • Good communication skills.

  • Positive attitude and honesty.

  • Willingness to learn.

• Preferred:

  • Formulating knowledge in UV coating chemistry.
